Collagen Peptides

Collagen peptides, the holy grail. Seriously y'all. This is in no way sponsored, just me being real with you about something I absolutely love. I've already talked to so many of you about this, but lets make it permanent on here.

 Last year, my boyfriend (personal trainer and health enthusiast- thanks to his mom ) introduced me to the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides and I gave it a go thinking it was just another good form of protein. Little did I know at this time, that the collagen peptides would be my saving grace.

I started using these peptides religiously (every single morning in my coffee) about 5 months ago. Unknowingly, they were about to fix my ongoing (and unsolvable) stomach issues, as well as the random acne I got at 25. Nothing like hitting late puberty in your twenties.

Anyways-

About a year and a half ago, I started having stomach issues. I couldn't eat a single thing without getting extremely bloated and looking 6 months pregnant... seriously though, I wish I was exaggerating here. I knew it wasn't food sensitivities because it would randomly bother me without any food even in my system. There was no rhyme or reason to it but I needed a solution. So, I visited 4 different doctors, had blood work done, an abdomical ultrasound, an endoscopy to make sure my stomach lining wasn't damaged AND even went as far as getting a flexible signoscopy- super similar to a colonoscopy but not as in depth.

Every single one of these tests came back NORMAL- to my dismay. I wasn't happy with that. I needed an answer. I needed to know what I could do to make this better. BUT come February, I noticed my stomach was no longer bothering me. I eat whatever I want now, although I do keep my portions small and eat throughout the entire day- and NOTHING bothers me.

As if that wasn't enough, this same period of time that the stomach issues were occurring- little baby acne-like-bumps appeared on my chin, from ear to ear. I started obsessing over them, stressing myself out which was probably making them worse. T y p i c a l Kelsey move. You bet I visited the dermatologist every two weeks like clock work for an acne facial and a checkup. Tried every cream, wash and pill he would give me. None of it worked. They just would't go away. But guess what!? Come February again and my skin had not one single bump on it. I was never that girl who felt comfortable wearing a bare face out in public- and now I rarely throw on anything besides some blush on the daily. 

The collagen peptides completely changed the complexion of my skin, my hair is growing in thicker (thats a miracle all in it's own) and my nails are as strong as they've ever been. My nail lady mentions it every time I see her!

So for those of you who don't know- clearly I didn't either or I would have been religious with my peptides sooner than I was- Collagen is the most abundant form of protein in your body. It wasn't a miracle that these things happened to me when I started using it- "Collagen is the vital building block of our bodies including skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints" It promotes a healthy immune, digestive and central nervous system. It even increases your athletic performance and helps achieve a lean body. Yes yes and yes!

How to ingest:

1. Throw a scoop in your coffee! It doesn't change the flavor what so ever- and I ALWAYS drink every last drop of mine. The easiest!

2. Add it to your favorite shake recipe- just take out any other protein powder and replace it with the collagen peptides! Apparently the two proteins fight against each other and aren't good to have both in one drink!
